I know that no matter how small the task, I contribute to better outcomes for patients whether it be one less infection or better care for heart failure patients.

Working with people who are equally passionate and excited to make an impact brings me great joy. I try to make our employees’ work life a little easier, providing support and finding solutions. My coworkers continue to motivate me both at work and in my personal life—one of my colleagues and I just completed an 80-day workout program together.

The greatest joy I experience in my work is making a positive contribution to the safety of our patients. I engage with staff to understand issues inherent in our system and work with the teams to help ensure patients receive the best possible care.

If I am having a challenging day, I gain perspective by walking around the hospital, smiling at a patient or offering to grab a wheelchair for someone. I also really enjoy the relationships I have developed with the people I work with. The passion, dedication and collegiality of those around me balance my work life and makes me look forward to my day.

I enjoy working with my team. Teamwork is important to me, as it ultimately affects the quality of care patients receive and the impression we make on them. My team supports each other. Anyone can have a bad day, but knowing we are there for each other can make all the difference. My colleagues are amazing and deserve recognition in their own right.

As the first point of contact, I don’t always know the patient’s outcome, but I hope I am able to provide some measure of comfort and reassurance to their day.

Nearly every employee relies on their computer, and we do our best to ensure they have access to a reliable one. The hardware team is made up of the hardest working people I know. I smooth out the daily wrinkles so they can do their jobs. We often wonder how we will get it all done, but we always find a way – together. There is nothing like finishing up a project and watching the team walk away feeling accomplished.

While I don’t work directly in a clinical setting, I enjoy the interactions I have with patients, like helping them find their way. I once drove a patient around the parking lot for 45 minutes until she could recognize her car.

I really enjoy mentoring others. When the day isn’t heading in the direction we anticipated, we can still learn from that. Failure can be a learning experience that allows you to get up and try again. I try hard to portray that, and I hope that others are able to see that in me.

Our teams play a vital role in the lives of our patients every day and they do a fantastic job. Our motto here is, ‘Where every call matters.’ Part of that is being sure that we provide the best customer service on every call. I receive calls from patients thanking us for going above and beyond, and that’s a great feeling.

I try to be a positive presence and always have a smile, even in times of chaos. I make an effort to know each employee both personally and professionally. It’s important to me that the people I work with know I respect them as both employees and individuals.

I try to make myself available for anyone who needs support. I have enjoyed the opportunities to be a mentor and participate in staff development. Whether working on dashboards, informatics, leadership training or operations, I am excited to participate in engaging others to make them want to come to work every day.

I wanted to work in an environment where I can make a difference in someone’s life. When patients get to my office, they can be nervous, so I try my best to help them feel more relaxed about the procedure they are scheduling.

The people I work with are a great team together. I’m always up for a task with a positive attitude and a smile on my face.

We all have the same goal and that’s to make a difference in our patients’ care. I do this by ensuring patients keep up with their health care needs. Because I am fluent in Spanish, I am also available to help our Spanish-speaking patients arrange care, transportation or other assistance they might need.

I have a very positive attitude. My co-workers know that I’m here to assist them in any way I can, whether it’s work related or personal. The work I do is out of love and dedication to our organization and to our patients. I absolutely love being part of the Dartmouth-Hitchcock team and everything we do to make a difference in our communities.

In every interaction with a patient, I focus on meeting that patient’s specific needs. I treat them with respect and compassion. I pride myself on ensuring their needs are met to the best of my ability. I enjoy working collaboratively with everyone in my department, from other clinical secretaries to providers and everyone in between. My colleagues know they can depend on me to find solutions to complex issues. If I do not know the answer, I’ll go out of my way to find it.

At the end of each day, I know I have accomplished a great deal. I’ve done my part to make each patient’s experience as positive as it can possibly be, and that makes me happy.

It is a rewarding feeling when you see patients receive the care they need—whether that is delivering a meal tray or scheduling their appointments. It’s also important to make a difference in my colleagues’ workday too, by staying positive, productive and lending a hand whenever needed.

I am proud to work for a facility that truly cares about their employees’ wellbeing and their patients’ care experience. Dartmouth-Hitchcock makes me feel like I’m more than just a number on a page. I’m a small part of what makes this hospital a standout from the rest.
