“Being an Ophthalmology technician is rewarding in many ways. We do far more than prescribing glasses to patients. We play a role in managing systemic illnesses like diabetes or multiple sclerosis. It’s awesome to think someone might read their favorite book again or see a loved one. Being a part of that is gratifying. The work I do wouldn’t be possible without my colleagues. It’s important to make sure they feel appreciated. I created the ‘High Council of Employee Merriment’ which is a fun group where we create theme days like ‘Breakfast of Champions’ or ‘Flannel Friday’ to boost morale. The more you’re appreciated, the better work you do. The better work you do, the better care our patients receive.”
